Bronze Torques with Viking Snake JÖRMUNGANDR. Migration Period golden bracteates, Vendel era helmet plates and Germanic Iron Age bird-shaped brooches all feature this Water Dragon, artefacts were found in Uppsala, Valsgärde and Sutton Hoo.

According to Norse mythology Jörmungandr, or Midgardsormr, meaning gigantic beast, poses a great threat so Odin throws him into the ocean. But the serpent grows so large that it is able to surround the earth and grasp its own tail. During Ragnarök the beast causes a deluge resulting in submersion of the world. Afterward, the world resurfaces anew.
